Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s Mangal Pravesh fills TMU with fragrance

Amidst grandeur, divinity and novelty, Chancellor of Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Mr. Suresh Jain honoured Yoga Shiromani Sri Sri Ravi Shankar with the honorary degree of D.Litt. GVC Mr. Manish Jain honoured him by draping a shawl while ED Mr. Akshat Jain honoured him by gifting a Silver coconut. Quoting ‘Jaisa Anna, Vaisa Man’, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said, ‘Magnificent Persona is created in Teerthanker Mahaveer University’. Chancellor made thousands of students recite ‘So Hum’, an important part of the Sudarshan Kriya, in a rhythmic manner. Executive Director of TMU won the hearts of all the guests including Sri Sri Ravi Shankar with his powerful addressal.

The presence of the Art of Living founder and world’s renowned spiritual Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in Teerthanker Mahaveer University will remain unforgettable. Amidst grandeur, divinity and novelty, Yoga Shiromani Sri Sri Ravi Shankar was honoured by TMU with the honorary degree of D.Litt. With his blessings, Sri Sri said, I am delighted to know that TMU is adding colours to the dreams of youth from earth to the cosmos. Quoting the saying ‘As is the food, so is the mind’, he said, beautiful personalities are being formed in the university. Gurudev also warned that the next war in the world will be over water, that is why the university should spread awareness about its water conservation campaign across the country. He added, I have come to know that not even a single drop of water is wasted in the university. As soon as the Chancellor of the University, Shri Suresh Jain, conferred the degree of D.Litt on Sri Sri Ravishankar, the huge pandal resounded with Jai Gurudev and thunderous applause. Before this, Chancellor Shri Suresh Jain announced the start of the ‘Special Convocation’. The Chancellor appeared full of enthusiasm throughout the program. He repeatedly made thousands of students and volunteers chant Jai Gurudev. During the ceremony, he made the students chant So Hum, an important part of the Sudarshan Kriya, in a rhythmic manner. As a mark of respect, GVC Mr. Manish Jain draped a shawl on Sri Sri, while Executive Director Mr. Akshat Jain presented him with a silver coconut. Gurudev was also gifted an oil painting from the College of Fine Arts. As soon as the academic procession entered the pandal amidst the divine announcement, the distinguished guests, Art of Living followers and more than 15 thousand students of TMU gave a standing ovation to Gurudev, and Gurudev in return showered rose petals on thousands of youngsters standing on both sides of him. In the procession, along with Chancellor Mr. Suresh Jain, GVC Mr. Manish Jain, Executive Director Mr. Akshat Jain, VC Prof. VK Jain, Registrar Dr. Aditya Sharma, Dean Academics Prof. Manjula Jain, Directors, Principals etc. were present. MLC Dr. Jaipal Singh Vyast, MLC Dr. Hari Singh Dhillon, Mayor Mr. Vinod Agarwal, Mr. Anil Jain etc. graced the special convocation. The special convocation concluded with the national anthem. First Lady Mrs. Veena Jain, Director Admin Mr. Abhishek Kapoor were also present in the ceremony. It was conducted by Dr. Madhav Sharma.

Global peace ambassador Sri Sri Ravi Shankar concluded his meaningful address by chanting the Shankhnaad mantra. Sri Sri said, university is not only a platform for mere exchange of information and degrees, but it is the main center for building a beautiful personality. I came to TMU campus and experienced that beautiful personalities are being built here. This is the real purpose of education. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said smilingly, you have made me your alumnus in just one day. Pointing to the students, he said, now you and I have become part of TMU. He asked the youth, who among you is naughty and who is not? Youths should also be mischievous, but mischievousness should not hurt anyone. On culture and values, Gurudev said, it is my good fortune that I am amongst you on Paryushan Parv. This is clearly evident from your diet and behaviour. Describing smile as an integral part of life, Gurudev said, always keep smiling. Harvard research shows that a child smiles 400 times a day. When he is in college, he smiles 17 times a day, but when he gets a degree, his smile ends. He advocated employment-oriented higher education. Also, Sri Sri asked a large group of students, are you nursing students? He said, immense career opportunities are waiting for you at the global level for nursing and agriculture students. Addressing Executive Director Shri Akshat Jain as ‘our son’, he thanked the management of TMU for the honorary degree of D.Litt. Giving blessings, Sri Sri said, may the university touch new heights. In the end, he ended his speech after chanting Om Shanti twice. Before this, VC Prof. VK Jain, while telling about the major achievements of the university, threw light on NAAC grade, patents, NIRF ranking, 12B recognition, startups. He also said that TMU is giving financial assistance upto one crore for start ups. Registrar Dr. Aditya Sharma presented the citation.

 

TMU Executive Director Shri Akshat Jain won the hearts of all the guests including Sri Sri Ravi Shankar with his dynamic speech. He said, Gurudev has played a big role in the development of my personality along with my family and teachers. I have lived in India and abroad for 15 years for studies. I have realized that Indian culture is alive even abroad. In such a situation, by bringing our tradition to our country and among the youth, we are only fulfilling our responsibilities. Shri Jain said, it is a matter of great fortune for us to learn Sudarshan Kriya from Gurudev. Sudarshan Kriya is the definition of real happiness. Shri Jain, overwhelmed by Gurudev’s presence in TMU campus, said, Gurudev has taken India’s ancient Vedic tradition and knowledge to the world stage. In the end, with the slogan of Jai Jinendra, Jai Gurudev and Jai Hind, he expressed his gratitude to Yoga Guru Mrs. Ritu Narang and Shri Ajay Narang for the success of this special convocation. Before taking his seat, Shri Akshat Jain touched the feet of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and took his blessings.

Before Sri Sri Gurudev took his seat, the stage was decorated for music and yoga. Famous musician associated with Art of Living, Shri Saket Kakkar and team performed more than a dozen devotional, spiritual and yoga songs one after the other. In between, Yoga Guru from Moradabad, Mrs. Ritu Narang also explained all the steps of yoga. After this, the volunteers of Art of Living performed devotional dance on Bhajans. During the ceremony, the biography of Sri Sri was also shown. In the academic procession, Prof. NK Singh, Prof. Preetpal Singh Matreja, Prof. SK Jain, Prof. VK Jain, Prof. MP Singh, Prof. RK Dwivedi, Dr. Pradeep Agarwal, Dr. Jyoti Puri, Shri Manoj Jain, Shri Ajay Garg, Prof. Anurag Verma, Mrs. Neelima Jain, Prof. Rashmi Mehrotra, Prof. Navneet Kumar, Prof. Vipin Jain, Dr. Shivani M. Kaul, Prof. SP Subhashini, Prof. Jasleen M., Prof. Nikhil Rastogi, Prof. Manoj Rana, Shri Ravindra Dev, Dr. Piyush Mittal, Prof. Ramniwas, Dr. Ashendra Saxena etc. were present.
